The program

Marriott STARS & Luminous benefits.

Marriott's two invitation-tier programs cover its luxury and premium portfolios. STARS serves the flagship luxury brands; Luminous extends similar treatment across the premium tier.

$100+ property credit

At least $100 at every STARS property; varies by hotel at Luminous properties.

Daily breakfast

Complimentary breakfast throughout the stay.

Upgrade priority

One-category upgrade at check-in, subject to availability, plus welcome amenity and management VIP oversight.

Your Bonvoy still counts

Rates match the hotel's best available rate and qualify as direct, so points and elite status stack on top.

Worth knowing

Why book Marriott STARS & Luminous through an advisor.

Free-night promotions run regularly, and the Ritz-Carlton Yacht Collection adds onboard credit and pre-sailing suite-upgrade windows. You pay the hotel's own best available rate. The benefits are the difference, not the price. More on booking a luxury hotel through an advisor.

The honest fine print: benefits are provided by the program, vary by property and rate, and availability-based items are never guaranteed. Exactly what applies to your stay is confirmed in writing in your proposal, and bookings are made directly with the hotel through the preferred channel, so you keep your loyalty points and status eligibility where the program allows it.

Compared with booking direct

Marriott STARS & Luminous vs booking direct.

STARS covers Ritz-Carlton, St. Regis, EDITION, Bulgari, and The Luxury Collection; Luminous extends similar treatment to W, JW Marriott, Westin, and more. Compared with booking direct, you add a property credit, daily breakfast, and upgrade priority while your Bonvoy points and status still count. The Ritz-Carlton Yacht Collection is part of the picture too, with onboard credit and pre-sailing suite-upgrade windows.

Questions

What are Marriott STARS & Luminous benefits?

Booked through The Plane Prince Travel, Marriott STARS & Luminous stays can include: $100+ property credit; daily breakfast; upgrade priority; your Bonvoy still counts. Benefits vary by property and rate, and exactly what applies is confirmed in writing before you book.

Do I pay more than booking direct?

No. You pay the hotel's own best available rate, the same rate you would see booking direct. The benefits are the difference, not the price, and hotel-only bookings carry no planning fee.

What is Marriott STARS?

STARS is Marriott's proprietary travel agency program for its luxury brands: The Ritz-Carlton and Ritz-Carlton Reserve, St. Regis, EDITION, Bulgari and The Luxury Collection. Marriott set it up for its most loyal, top-producing agencies, so its benefits reach your stay only when the booking is made through a participating advisor. The benefits are the ones at the top of this page.

What is Marriott Luminous, and how is it different from STARS?

Luminous is Marriott's second proprietary travel agency program, launched in 2019. STARS covers its luxury brands; Luminous covers participating hotels across a wider set of brands, including W, JW Marriott, Westin, Autograph Collection and Le Méridien. Each Luminous hotel opts in, and its benefits, especially the property credit, vary more from hotel to hotel than they do in STARS.

Do I earn Marriott Bonvoy points booking through an advisor?

Yes. STARS and Luminous stays are booked with the hotel at its own rate, which Marriott Bonvoy treats as a qualifying rate booked through a travel agent. Online travel channel, wholesale and package rates are different: they earn no points or elite night credit. Add your Bonvoy number to the reservation, and I confirm how your elite benefits apply before you book.

Is the Ritz-Carlton Yacht Collection part of STARS?

Yes, STARS benefits extend to The Ritz-Carlton Yacht Collection, though they work differently at sea: onboard credit and pre-sailing suite-upgrade windows rather than the hotel benefits. I confirm what applies to your sailing before you book.

Can I book Ritz-Carlton or St. Regis through a travel agent?

Yes. STARS is how Marriott's luxury hotels extend advisor benefits, and it needs a booking made through a participating agency. Not every third-party booking qualifies: under Marriott Bonvoy's terms, online travel channel and package rates earn nothing. I book with the hotel directly through STARS or Luminous.

How do I book Marriott STARS & Luminous?

Send the hotel and your dates through Start Here. I confirm the property participates, then book directly with the hotel through the program's preferred channel, with the benefits that apply confirmed in writing before you commit.
